Deutsche Bahn Premium Lounges, Germany

Deutsche Bahn has introduced new Premium Lounges in Germany‘s major cities. Designed as inviting places to pause, they were furnished by Walter K. and have already received the German Design Award in the category interior design.

A break, not just a wait: With its new Premium Lounges, Deutsche Bahn transforms layovers into moments of calm. First class passengers now find thoughtful spaces to pause in at key railway stations – including Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Cologne, Mannheim, Hanover, and Hamburg. Walter K., as furnishing partner, contributed special pieces and carefully selected classics. Comfortable seating, a quiet ambiance, food and beverage service, and a curated media selection make time before departure noticeably more pleasant.

The Premium Lounges offer a setting to unwind before departure, work in peace, or simply take a break. First-class passengers and Platinum status members benefit from an environment that combines comfort with function. Furniture tailored to different types of use, finished in muted colors and natural materials, create an atmosphere where guests feel at ease. Free Wi-Fi, a choice of newspapers and magazines, and large departure boards make the experience more relaxed. Meals and beverages are served directly to the seat. A generously appointed counter with self-service and barista specialties in the bistro area invites guests to savour the moment.

The Premium Lounges were designed by interior architecture studio CRI Cornauer Romani from Bensheim. Since their introduction in May 2021, the lounges have been rolled out at an increaasing rate in a number of stations. The design makes Deutsche Bahn’s brand identity spatially tangible  and relies on well-considered details that are both functional and aesthetically refined. Furniture choices expresses this mindset: Jaan Living sofas bring a sense of repose to the lounge areas. In the bistro, Kyo chairs and Lox tables offer a relaxed setting for enjoying a coffee.

A dedicated quiet zone provides space for focused work or privacy. CRI and Walter K. collaborated in designing and developing these custom-made high-back chairs specifically for Deutsche Bahn. Their enveloping form ensures both visual and acoustic seclusion – creating a sheltered, comfortable place to retreat. All silent chairs   are  equipped with a side table and USB ports. The furnishings by Walter K. blend into  the interior design with natural ease and offer travellers a welcome moment of calm.
