As an icon of modern design, the FK chair paved the pay – years in advance – for one of the most revolutionary trends: the fusion between office and living spaces. The formula to its success was simple: an elegant bucket seat with a minimal silhouette, a floral shape, and a high level of comfort due to excellent leather upholstery. Danish architects Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm – the name FK comes from the initials of their last names – created it in 1967; it would come to embody Scandinavian design at its best and, over time, to be considered a classic. Today, in 2017, the 50-year-old FK remains the same: a timeless, iconic piece of furniture.
Danish interior designers Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm devoted themselves to optimizing shape, materials and ergonomics. In 1961, together they founded a studio which became the birthplace of numerous design classics. Their main goal was to blend function into form and aesthetics - this attitude resulted in long-lasting symbols of modernity.
